Biography
Claudia Passeri creates site-specific interventions and contextual pieces that explore human perception in relation to place. Depending on the site and the context, the work takes on social, political, and environmental aspects. Her research has a neo-romantic aspect that seeks, frequently via the use of irony, to reveal the mechanisms that activate the human creative processes, which transform how we view the world.
Claudia Passeri lives and works between Luxembourg (L) and Perugia (I). From 1998 to 2004 she studied set design at the Accademia delle Belle Arti di Bologna (I), photography at the ESI ‘Le 75’ in Brussels (B) and finally at the IED in Rome (I). Since 2002, Claudia Passeri’s work has been shown regularly in Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, etc.. In 2006, she is co-founder with Michèle Walerich of the public art project Agence Borderline. In 2011 she received the Edward Steichen Award Luxembourg Resident in NYC, this prize offers a four-month residency at ISCP in New York City (USA). A selection of her recent pieces has been shown in 2014 at the Mudam Luxembourg and BOZAR in Brussels (B). In 2015 she had a soloshow Mangia Mina at the Centre D'Art Nei Liicht in Dudelange, that has been shown in 2017 at the SRISA Gallery of Florence (I). Since 2016 her piece Zeitgeist - Karl Cobain is presented at Casino Luxembourg - Forum d'Art contemporain (L). In 2016 she obtained a residency at the Darling Foundry in Montréal (CA) fom the Fonds culturel national (FOCUNA).
